October started with misty, cobwebby mornings clearing into beautiful sunny days. Autumn is my favourite time of the year.
A time of long walks, bonfire parties with family and friends, kicking up leaves, admiring cobwebs and sitting on the sofa in front of the fire with the dog.
It’s a time of berries and fruit in the garden, of preparing and freezing ready to use during the Winter months. Later, after the first frosts, it will be time to collect rosehips and sloes to make rosehip syrup and sloe gin.
There is a cosiness to the darker evenings, although by January the novelty will have worn off!
I came across this quote and it pretty much sums up how I feel about October and Autumn.
